The brilliance of Home Affairs.

So this is a real South African ID document:














The persons 3rd and 4th name seem a little unnatural when first read, but after outsourcing the problem to my afrikaans friends they came to the conclusion that the poor lady was just trying to tell the genius in Home Affairs (direct translation):
"Don't forget to put a line above the I" or
"The I contains a mark above it" or
"I comes before E except after C".

Its one of the above, I never really listened in afrikaans.
Besides making the painful trip, standing around in long queues, and then waiting a few years to get your ID you have got to love it when it comes out like that...
