The Aristocrats

The joke, known as the "Aristocrats" is one of the longest running in-jokes in the standup comedy industry, being passed amongst comedians backstage for years. The joke is normally told to fuck around with new comedian who's just about to go onstage. This famous joke has no set pattern, only a simple format...

1) A family goes in to see a talent agent.
2) The agent asks to see their act.
3) They oblige by committing the most disgusting and elaborate act the teller's imagination and stomach will allow.
4) When asked what their act is called they explain that it is called "The Aristocrats" - It's not supposed to make sense.

The more vile the joke is the better.

Eddie Izzard, Billy Connolly, Chris Rock, Robin Williams and the makers of South Park are among the comedians who have recorded versions of the joke for the film which is to be shown at the Edinburgh Fringe later this year.
